RUNNING IN THE BOSONOHY WOOD

11/06/2020

Bosonohy wood (Bosonožský hájek) is a nature reserve located on the very western edge of the cadastre of the Brno-Bosonohy district of Brno in the Zadní boří locality. The subject of protection is a preserved forest stand hosting a number of species of higher plants. The area is one of the European important sites of the Natura 2000 system.

The tree layer is dominated by winter oak (Quercus petraea) with an admixture of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) and heart-shaped linden (Tilia cordata). In the shady ravines, hornbeam (Carpinus betulus), baby maple (Acer campestre), beech (Fagus sylvatica) and, in some places, rowan (Sorbus torminalis) and elm (Ulmus laevis) are added.

I recommend Bosonohy wood (Bosonožský hájek) and its surroundings especially to runners and cyclists. There are countless paths in the grove, which are ideal for running and mountain biking.
